Festive background sounds for Halloween, Diwali and Christmas.
Updated · BusyAudio
A little background sound does a lot for a party. It fills the quiet before guests arrive, sets the mood in a hallway or on a doorstep, and makes a small get-together feel fuller. And sometimes it gives you a cheerful reason to keep a call short.
Here are BusyAudio’s free festive loops, what each one is good for, and how to set them up so they stay in the background.
Halloween: spooky, but not too much Want more chaos? Zombie House has zombies groaning and scratching at a boarded-up door, Skeleton Attack is a playful clatter of bones and rattling jaws, and Monster Under the Bed is the slow, calm-but-creepy one with raspy breathing and a creaking bed frame.
Haunted House puts you in a storm-battered old mansion: howling wind, rain on the windows, creaking floorboards, a slow door and rolling thunder. It works well on a trick-or-treat doorstep or in a hallway. Witching Hour Woods is the calm option: night wind, owls and crickets with no jump scares, for reading or a cozy autumn night in.
Diwali: warm evenings, gentle crackers For puja time, Aarti Bells & Claps has brass hand bells, family clapping in time, manjira, a gentle dholak and a conch shell, with no vocals.
Diwali Night is a rooftop on Diwali night: gentle far-off fireworks, families chatting in Hindi and temple bells in the distance. The crackers are deliberately kept far away and gentle. Diyas & Sparklers is a calm loop for lighting diyas or puja time. Diwali House Party is the playful one: relatives chatting and laughing, plates clinking, festive music from the next room and crackers outside, for “sorry, everyone’s over, can I call you tomorrow?”
Christmas: fire, bells and carols For the party end of things, Jingle Bells Party brings sleigh bells, a cheerful upbeat jingle and a full room, Santa on the Roof has reindeer hooves, sleigh bells and a jolly ho ho ho down the chimney, and Christmas Morning is kids ripping wrapping paper and squealing with joy.
Christmas Cabin puts a crackling log fire, snowy wind and a soft piano carol together. Sleigh Ride is bright and festive, with harness bells, a trotting horse and runners gliding over snow. Midnight Mass Bells has cathedral bells across a snowy square and a pipe organ carol from inside.
Set it up so it stays in the background
- Play from one speaker, low, near the entrance or in a corner, rather than everywhere.
- Mix a festive loop with Rain & Thunder or Coffee Shop for a richer bed, each with its own volume.
- Use the sleep timer so the ambience fades out on its own after the party.
- Every loop is seamless, so it can run for hours without an audible restart.
